Vacation Policy
There was an emergency ERC meeting held to discuss the amendment of the last clause. It was amended to read... "Once the Waiting list has been exhausted, ...". This DOES NOT hinder the ability to trade vacation days or weeks, but gives the ability to the first person in the 'Waiting list' the fair opportunity to have the day off instead of someone with lesser seniority.
It was re-emphasiced to the employer representatives that in the event of an EXTENUATING circumstance, a staff member who requires a day off and there are no more vacation vacancies available, the usual practice is to ask each person to switch or give up their vacation. Then if there is a waitlist - ask the same of them. If all resources have been exhausted - then iti s up to the manager to use their discression.
