Local Employee Relations
The Employee Relations Committee is committed to a continuous, proactive approach towards supporting employees with a humane and supportive work environment consistent with the University mission and core values. The Committee represents employees’ interests in regards to improving morale through positive communications, enhancing benefits, maintaining equitable policies, and other concerns/interests.
The Committee accomplishes this mission by serving as an active communications liaison by making recommendations to the TBPVSB executive administration.
The committee comprises of four (4) representatives of TBPVSB management and four (4) representatives of Local OPSEU members.  The committee meets 12 times a year, approx once monthly - and whenever need arises for additional meetings.
 
Joint Health and Safety
The Joint Health and Safety committee is composed of workers and the employer representatives. They are committed to improving workplace health and safety conditions including but not limited to a greater protection against workplace injury and illness, and greater protection means reduced human suffering, work-related accidents and work-related deaths. Committees identify potential health and safety concerns and bring them to the employer's attention. As well, JHSC members must be informed of all workplace health and safety developments.
 
Thunder Bay and District Labour Council
The Labour Council is a group of people who comes together to learn, discuss, promote and react to labour issues. The membership is made of delegates chosen by their local unions.  The membership is made of many unions from around the region. During the meetings - information is shared on labour that affect those unions, feedback, action that may be requested to take, inform the labour movement of future requests, community involvement and campaigns to get information out to the public to better understand a situation.
 
Newsletter and Website
This committee is made of local staff and members who provide a communication tool for the local to distribute information.  Both newsletters and website volunteers are always looking for a story and scoop.  The learning curve is steep and publishing is fun.
 
Staff Association
The Staff Association is social committee made of collective group of members of both staff and management. The Staff Association comes together as friends and acquaintences to put work behind them and enjoy people for who they are.  They participate in municipal relays, volunteer and design donation runs.
